Los Angeles: On Sunday, June 6, 2004, at about 3:50 a.m., Hollywood Area patrol officers responded to a call in the area of 1700 block of North Orange Drive.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they observed a 41 year-old man down to the rear of an apartment complex with an apparent stab wound. Paramedics from the Los Angeles City Fire Department transported the victim to Cedars Sinai Hospital. The victim failed to respond to life-saving treatment and was pronounced dead at 4:31 a.m.
The victim’s identity is being withheld, pending notification to his family.
The investigation has disclosed that the suspect and the victim were acquaintances. There was an argument between them that led to the victim possibly trying to enter the suspect’s apartment through a window. The suspect armed himself with a homemade spear and stabbed the victim.
The suspect has been identified as 61 year-old Louis Preston-Harris, a resident of Hollywood. The suspect was arrested for murder and the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration on Tuesday, June 8, 2004.
