Robbery Suspect Deceives Victim with Politeness

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at about 12:00 p.m., Foothill Area Officers responded to a robbery call at the Subway Restaurant located at 9724 Woodman Avenue in Arleta.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a man described as a Caucasian male, 6’0″ tall, approximately 170 pounds with dark, wavy shoulder length hair, entered the Subway Restaurant and asked a female employee for a glass of water. After receiving the cup of water he replied, “God Bless You.” After he left the store, the employee prepared the daily bank deposit, wrapped the deposit in a sweater and left the store for a nearby bank.

As the employee walked towards her car, she saw a man standing near her vehicle and recognized him as the man who earlier in the day, asked for the glass of water. As she reached to open the driver’s side door, he yelled, “Ma’am”. She turned around, looked at the him, then ran back towards the Subway store. The man ran after the employee, struggled with her for the money and pointed a blue steel handgun in her face. The suspect demanded the money and said that if she did not comply with his demands, that he would kill her. The victim gave the suspect the bank deposit and left the area in an unknown direction.
