This morning, the Los Angeles Police Department received official notification from federal authorities. That notification did not contain any specific threat to the City of Los Angeles.
The LAPD takes threats and any information received seriously and remains prepared for any terrorist activity. The National Threat Alert Level is still at Level 3 (Yellow) and the Department will remain at this level until further notice. Geographic Areas will provide extra patrol to critical locations identified in their Single Purpose Terrorism Response Plans (549 sites have been identified). All Department personnel are remaining alert for potential terrorism-related activities.
The safety of the public is the Department’s highest priority and steps are in place to ensure that public safety agencies are on alert and remain vigilant at all times.
The community is urged to remain alert of their surroundings and help the LAPD by calling in any suspicious activity that they may see. With the LAPD’s commitment to homeland security, and the community’s support and involvement, Los Angeles will be a safer city.
