Reseda: On Sunday, May 23, 2021, at 8:05 P.M., a black convertible, 2015, Mini Cooper and a black, BMW M3, were traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Corbin Avenue. The Mini Cooper collided into a black, 2013, Kia Optima, that had negotiated a right turn from westbound Saticoy Street to northbound Corbin Avenue. The black Kia was pushed into opposing lanes of traffic as a result of the collision with the Mini Cooper. The Kia then collided with a gray, 2016, Volkswagen Golf sedan that was traveling southbound Corbin Avenue. The BMW that was also traveling at a high speed lost control of his vehicle, swerved, crossed into opposing lanes of traffic, and collided with a blue, 2008, Chevy Silverado that was traveling southbound Corbin Avenue. The force of the collision between the BMW and the Chevy, caused the Chevy to collide with parked vehicles and the BMW disintegrated killing the driver. There were multiple vehicles that were involved and damaged as a result of this multi-vehicle collision.
The driver and sole occupant of the BMW, a 28-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification next of kin.
The male juvenile driver of the Mini Cooper sustained minor injuries
The driver of the Chevy suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department for medical treatment.
The female driver and male passenger of the Kia were transported to a local hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department for medical treatment, they sustained minor injuries and were released from the hospital. The male driver of the Volkswagen sustained minor injuries.
This investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
