Fatal Hit-and-Run Vehicle vs. Pedestrian NR21314ml

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision.

On Friday, November 5, 2021 at around 6:15 p.m., the suspect’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on Manchester Avenue negotiating a northbound left turn on Avalon Boulevard. The suspect’s vehicle collided with a vehicle traveling westbound Manchester Avenue.

The collision between both those vehicles caused one of the vehicles to rotate counter clockwise and collide with two pedestrians who were standing on the northwest corner of Manchester Avenue and Avalon Boulevard.

One of the pedestrians suffered minor injuries and the other pedestrian sustained blunt force trauma. The Los Angeles Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital where she died from her injuries. The suspect vehicle fled the scene without rendering aid to victim in violation of the law.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
