Los Angeles: On August 17, 2004, at about 1:00 a.m., Julio Renota Cordon Samayoa, 24 years of age, a resident of Los Angeles, was in his friend’s 1990 white Nissan as a passenger and they were southbound on Figueroa Street at 68th Street. Four to five male Black suspects in an unknown vehicle pulled up next to Mr. Samayoa. There was a short exchange of words between the suspects and Mr. Samayoa, when Mr. Samayoa got out and began running away. The suspects fired several shots at Mr. Samayoa, striking him in the head. The suspects then drove southbound on Figueroa Street.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and pronounced Mr. Samayoa dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. Mr. Samayoa’s friend was not injured.
The motive for this shooting is currently unknown.
The suspects and weapon remain outstanding.
