Los Angeles: On Friday, August 8, 2003, North Hollywood Area Officers responded to a radio call of an " Assault With a Deadly Weapon with Shots Fired " in the area of Cleon Avenue and Burbank Boulevard. When the officers arrived, they were directed by a second radio call to a wounded victim at Burbank Boulevard and Lankershim Boulevard. Officers arrived to the second location and discovered 24 year-old Mark Colindres in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported Colindres to a local hospital were he died as a result of his injuries.
The Detectives investigation revealed that Colindres had been the passenger in a 2003 Infinity SUV when he and his 32 year-old friend, who was the driver, were shot at by an unidentified male Hispanic.
The motive for the shooting appears to be gang-related. The suspect(s) identity is unknown at this time.
