43 LAPD Recruit Officers to Graduate

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department proudly announces that it will graduate a new class of police recruits at an open ceremony that will take place at the historic Elysian Park Police Academy. The new officers will have completed 1,064 hours of training over the course of 28 weeks.

The graduating class of 43 recruits (33 males and 10 females) will become probationary officers to be assigned at LAPD Area Police Stations throughout Los Angeles.

Joining the recruit class graduation, a reserve officer academy class will also graduate 18 police reserve officers (13 males and 5 females). The LAPD Reserve Corps is comprised of community members who volunteer their time to fulfill many of the roles handled by full-time sworn police officers. Reserve officers receive 280 hours of the same training as sworn officers and work alongside them in every aspect of Department operations.

It is anticipated that over 500 guests will attend the ceremony. Chief William J. Bratton will inspect the class. Representatives from the Mayor’s office and the Board of Police Commission will be in attendance as well as their special guests and other dignitaries.
