Man Stabbed to Death on City Streets

Los Angeles: Central Area homicide detectives are investigating the stabbing death of a male Hispanic. He was approximately 40 years of age.
On Sunday, March 2, 2003 at 3:00 a.m., Central Division patrol officers responded to an "Ambulance Cutting" radio call at Winston Avenue and Main Street. Upon arrival at the intersection, officers observed the victim lying in the roadway in a pool of blood. Officers were then directed by on-lookers to a large group of unknown individuals fighting with sticks, knives and bottles. Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital were he was treated for his injuries but then, died a short time later. At this time, it is unknown if theirs is a connection between the stabbing of the victim and the group that was observed fighting with sticks and bottles.
There appears to be numerous witnesses to the events surrounding the victim’s death and detectives are attempting to locate them.
The deceased has not been identified at this time.
