LAPD Police Dispatchers Come to Aid of Disabled Students

Los Angeles: On Friday, March 14, 2003, at 10:00 A.M., Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) dispatchers will present a check for over $1100.00 to Miller High School students to pay for the replenishment of much needed school supplies, that were taken during a burglary.
On the morning of March 3, 2003, teachers of Miller High School arrived and discovered that one of the classrooms had been burglarized. Someone, or individuals, broke into one of the classrooms and stole several computers, a jarful of bus tokens and other school supplies.
Miller High School is a small public school with approximately 208 students. The students who attend this school all suffer from some sort of disability. The classroom, which was burglarized, is assigned to students who suffer from Down’s syndrome and cerebral palsy.
Hearing the sad news, LAPD dispatchers began a drive to collect money to help replenish the items that were stolen. The dispatchers raised over $1,100.00 and will be presenting the donated money to the school officials on Friday, March 14, 2003.
