Gun Violence Claims Another Life

Los Angeles: Hollenbeck Area Homicide Unit is investigating a gang related shooting death of Charles Steven Cova, 21 years of age. The shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Altura Street and Eastlake Avenue on January 1, 2003, at approximately 6:25 p.m.
The victim was standing on the northwest corner of Altura Street and Eastlake Avenue when the suspects approached his location in a white small compact vehicle. The right front passenger of the suspects’ vehicle fired several rounds from an unknown type handgun at the victim, striking him in the head. The victim collapsed on the street and the suspects fled westbound Altura Street and continued in an unknown direction.
At this time, no suspects have been identified. The public’s assistance is requested in solving this murder.
