Traffic Collision Takes Another Life

Los Angeles: On Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at approximately 2:15 a.m., a traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard, in the Weschester area of Los Angeles.
A 42 year-old male resident of Ventura, California, was driving a 2001 Dodge shuttle van northbound on Sepulvesda Boulevard. As he approached Manchester Avenue, Nicholas Oseguera, a 23 year-old Weschester resident driving his 1996 Toyota Corolla, negotiated a left turn from southbound Sepulveda Boulevard to eastbound Manchester Avenue. The driver of the Dodge applied his brakes and steered right in an attempt to avoid the Toyota but a collision occurred in the intersection, resulting in major damage to the Toyota’s right rear passenger side.
At the time of the collision, Nicolas Oseguera had two passengers; a male, 24 year-old resident of Weschester, was seated in the front passenger seat and Anthony Oseguera, the 27 year-old brother of the driver and resident of Westchester, was seated in the right rear seat. Anthony Oseguera sustained serious internal trauma and was transported to UCLA Medical Center by Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics. The front passenger sustained minor injuries to his face and did require treatment at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was not injured. The occupants of the Dodge were not injured.
Upon arrival at UCLA Medical Center, Anthony Oseguera was treated but failed to respond to treatment. Anthony Oseguera was pronounced dead by the attending emergency room physician.
