Fatal Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision NR22183ll

The initial information indicated the suspect’s vehicle to be blue in color. However, it was later determined and confirmed that it is a black colored truck.

Canoga Park: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for a hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a man.

On June 28, 2022, around 12:18 a.m., a blue Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling at an unsafe speed heading southbound De Soto Avenue towards Vanowen Street. The Dodge Ram failed to stop for a red tri-light and broadsided a 2002 Lexus that was traveling westbound on Vanowen Street towards De Soto Avenue. The driver of the Dodge Ram fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim or identifying himself to law enforcement.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the driver of the Lexus deceased. The driver’s name has not been released pending notification to next-of-kin, he was a Male, Hispanic, approximately 25 years-old.

Drivers are reminded to obey all traffic. If involved in a traffic collision, drivers are reminded to pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
