Mission Hills: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a male motorcyclist.

On July 16, 2022, at 11:45 p.m., a dark colored pickup truck was traveling westbound on Rinaldi Street when it collided with a motorcycle in the westbound lanes of traffic west of Sepulveda Boulevard. The driver fled in the pickup truck westbound on Rinaldi Street onto the southbound 405 Freeway without stopping, identifying themselves, or attempting to render aid to the motorcyclist that sustained fatal injuries.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the motorcyclist deceased at the scene. The motorcyclist is described as a male Hispanic in his early 30’s, and his name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.

Detectives believe the hit and run vehicle is a dark colored Chevrolet Sierra pickup with a long bed.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
