"Massive LAPD Task Force Set To Crack Down On Crime"
 

Los Angeles: On Thursday, August 1, 2002, between 9:00 a.m. to midnight, over 100 Los Angeles Police officers, will descend upon on a section of the North Hollywood Area determined to enforce a "Zero Tolerance" for crime. The task force, consisting of officers and supervisors from eight separate LAPD Community Police Stations, will blanket the area to enforce strict adherence to traffic and criminal laws.
"We are responding to the needs of our community by vigilantly enforcing the law. By applying a large scale police task force, we are maximizing our resources to combat specific crime problem areas," said LAPD West Valley Traffic Division Captain Greg Meyer.
Working together as a team, officers from a variety of assignments such as patrol, vice, narcotics, traffic and gang enforcement, will combine their efforts to achieve ultimate success. The focus area will be the area bordered by Whitsett Avenue on the west, Saticoy Street on the south, and the 5 Freeway on the east and north. Based upon past results, the valley task force has been very successful.
