WHY:
The Los Angeles Police Department will be honoring George Stanley as an honorary police officer for the day. George was born with developmental delays and has a moderate intellectual disability. George’s interest in community service and law enforcement started early in his childhood.

As a child, George’s favorite television shows involved First Responders who helped serve the community. “Adam 12”, “Emergency,” and “Chips” were George’s absolute favorites. Characters like Officer Pete Malloy, Officer Reed, Paramedics “Johnny and Roy,” and Highway Patrolmen “Ponch and Jon” were not just fictional television characters to George….they were true life heroes and his role models.

The event will not only bring the community together to further strengthen the relationship with law enforcement but also fulfill a lifelong dream in becoming a hero like the characters he grew up watching.
