Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Professional Standards Bureau have arrested Detective I Luke Walden, Serial No. 34898. Detective Walden was last assigned to Gang and Narcotics Division.
In April of 2021, Detective Walden attempted to purchase a silencer, in violation of Penal Code Section 33410, a felony, via an online purchase. Detectives from Professional Standards Bureau completed an investigation which culminated with the arrest of Detective Walden, pursuant to an arrest warrant, on November 15, 2022.
Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore stated, “Reverence for the law is an unbending expectation of each member of this Department. The circumstances of this investigation trouble me greatly given the responsibilities of the involved detective.”
The Los Angeles Police Commission President William J. Briggs III stated, “The Los Angeles Police Department will not tolerate corruption at any level. The Board of Police Commissioners will do everything to ensure that the Department operates at the highest levels of integrity. The Commission will be directing the Office of the Inspector General to review the circumstances of this incident and cooperate with our State partners.”
