LAPD Seeks the Public’s Help in Hate Crime Investigation

The Los Angeles Police Department will hold a press conference to ask for the public’s help on a Hate Crime Investigation.

Los Angeles: On Saturday, April 6, 2002, at approximately 12:30 A.M., two 17 year-old Jewish males wearing yarmulke, were walking northbound Reeves Street, approaching Cashio Street when a vehicle approached from behind and stopped.
Two suspects got out of the car, ran up to the victims and hit both victims with their fists. One victim was knocked to the ground. The suspects struck and kicked the victims with their hands and feet. As the suspects were leaving, one of the suspects shouted "Heil Hitler" and other derogatory terms.
The suspects left in their vehicle, described as a dark colored compact vehicle, possible Honda or a Toyota Corolla, four-door. There were two additional occupants in the vehicle.
The suspects are described as male Whites, with shaved heads in their 20’s. One has blue eyes, is 6 feet tall, 180 pounds; the other is 6 feet tall, approximately 150 pounds.
The victims sustained numerous cuts, bruises, and abrasions. They were medically treated and released at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
Los Angeles Police Deputy Chief David Kalish, Rabbi Abraham Cooper of the Simon Weisenthal Center, and Los Angeles Councilman Jack Weiss, will conduct the press conference at the crime scene to ask for the public’s help in this investigation.
West Los Angeles Operations Support Division detectives are conducting this Hate Crime investigation.
