Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR22380ll

South Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a pedestrian.

On December 16, 2022, around 4:05 p.m., a dark colored SUVwas traveling southbound Avalon Blvd at 76th Street when it collided with a pedestrian crossing the street. The driver of the SUV fled southbound on Avalon Blvd at high rate of speed and possibly had the lights the turned off. The driver of the SUV left the scene without identifying themselves or rendering aid to the victim, as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim dead at scene. His identity will not be released until next of kin has been notified.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
