March 27, 2002

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., North Hollywood Area Officers Anthony Fletcher, Arturo Hernandez and Michael Jensen responded to a radio call of "Unknown Trouble" at 12316 Covello Street.
Upon arrival, the officers determined this to be a medical emergency. The officers observed the victim, 82 year-old Mr. Kim, lying on the couch with no signs of life. The victim’s wife was on the phone with the Los Angeles Fire Department’s dispatcher, but was unable to communicate due to a language barrier (She speaks Korean only). Officer Jensen got on the phone with the dispatcher who advised a rescue ambulance had a five-minute estimated time of arrival. Officers Fletcher and Hernandez, without hesitation, administered CPR for approximately four minutes until the paramedics arrived. The victim was revived during the CPR and was transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Panorama City, where despite treatment, passed away at 6:05 p.m.
