"Death Occurs in an Apparent Gang-Related Shooting"
 

Los Angeles: On Saturday, February 2, 2002, at approximately 3:30 a.m., West Valley Area Community Police Station patrol officers responded to an "Ambulance Shooting" radio call in the 7300 block of Jordan Avenue in Canoga Park. The officers arrived on scene and discovered the lifeless body of a man lying in the street. Next to the victim’s body was a bicycle. The victim had been shot numerous times with an unknown type handgun and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics.
Witnesses to the incident stated the victim was riding his bicycle westbound on Wyandotte Street, East of Jordan Avenue, when a vehicle slowly approached. The passenger in the vehicle, which was described as an older model Lincoln Towncar, white and gray in color, began shooting at the victim for no apparent reason. The vehicle was last seen southbound on Jordan Avenue toward Sherman Way.
The victim is described as a male Hispanic, 35 years old, who resided in Canoga Park. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
The motive for the attack appears to be gang-related. The suspects responsible for this crime have not been arrested.
