Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR22396wm

Olympic: The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian.

On December 29, 2022, around 12:50 a.m., a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision occurred on Western Avenue north of Wilshire Boulevard. An unknown vehicle traveling south on Western Avenue collided with a pedestrian in the number two lane of Western Avenue, outside of a marked crosswalk. The vehicle fled the scene without stopping to identify themselves or render aid to the pedestrian.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and provided medical attention to the pedestrian. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at scene. The identity of the male is not being released pending next of kin notification.

The investigation is ongoing.

Drivers are reminded if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15,2015, City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
