Los Angeles: On Thursday, January 24, 2002, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a fatal auto vs. auto traffic collision occurred on Crenshaw Boulevard and Adams Boulevard.
The collision occurred when a 29 year-old male driver attempted to cross Crenshaw Boulevard eastbound in a 1993 GMC U-Haul truck, struck a 1995 Toyota Corolla, which was being driven by 19 year-old Laura Daniela Carreon of Inglewood. Carreon was traveling southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard, unable to stop in time, and collided into the driver’s side of the truck.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and discovered Carreon, who was six months pregnant, and three other passengers injured inside her vehicle. However, there was no evidence to show alcohol or drugs contributed to the cause of the collision. The driver of the truck was questioned at the scene and was released.
Carreon and her passengers were subsequently transported to Cedars Sinai Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Carreon’s passengers were treated for various fractures, cuts, and bruises. However, on January 25, 2002, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Carreon delivered her baby by C-section, still born.
