Los Angeles:  The Los Angeles Regional Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) was uploaded from an unknown address inLos Angeles using a social media platform.  The ICAC Task Force investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department subsequently identified the reported user as 67-year-old Leo Lanctot, a retired Redondo Beach Unified School District special education teacher.

On February 9, 2023, LAPD ICAC investigators served a search warrant at Lanctot’s residence in Los Angeles, where evidence was seized.  Lanctot was arrested for violation of 311.11(a) PC, Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

The Los Angeles Police Department ICAC Task Force is seeking additional victims following the arrest of Leo Lanctot.  Anyone with information regarding Leo Lanctot is encouraged to contact Detective Meares with the LAPD ICAC Unit at (562) 624-4027.

The LA ICAC Task Force is comprised of over 90 federal, state and local affiliate law enforcement agencies that detect and investigate child predators who use the internet to contact children or deal in child sexual abuse material.  All are reminded that any suspected inappropriate contact with a child, or knowledge of child sexual abuse material on the internet, should be immediately reported to local law enforcement agencies or to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at (800) 843-5678, or missing kids.com. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children will forward the information to the appropriate law enforcement agency nationwide.
