Pacific Area Homicide Detectives are investigating the murder of Javier Hernandez, a 24 year old, Hispanic. On May 5, 2001, at approximately 4:55 p.m., Hernandez was washing his vehicle in the parking lot next to his residence on Sawtelle Boulevard. An unidentified male Hispanic suspect approached Hernandez and shot him with an unknown caliber handgun. The suspect fled on foot northbound on Sawtelle Boulevard towards Braddock Drive.
The investigation revealed that the suspect possibly attempted to carjack a vehicle that was exiting the northbound 405 Freeway on the Culver Boulevard off-ramp. Pacific Homicide Detectives are seeking information from anyone who may have been at that location on the above date and time.
