Leimert Park: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Area detectives announce the arrest of one adult and one juvenile for Robbery at a local restaurant.
On Monday, June 19, 2023, around 7:45 p.m., a large group of adult and juvenile males and females entered a local restaurant located near the 4300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard. The large mob style group began yelling and displaying threatening behavior towards employees of the restaurant.
The mobs behavior escalated when several males began throwing items at restaurant employees. Another male pushed the dessert display off the counter causing it to shatter. Three males vaulted the front counter and immediately attempted to remove the restaurant’s cash drawers. Two cash drawers were removed and taken.
Southwest Police Officers were in the area and observed the large group exiting the restaurant and detained a suspect. He was ultimately booked for Receiving Stolen Property as they were unable to specifically connect him to the theft. Due to the violent nature of the large group, the arrestee was removed from the location along with law enforcement.
Southwest Detectives began investigating, viewing social media posts, and obtaining surveillance video. The videos captured the force and fear used to steal the cash drawers as well as the smashing and theft of the enclosed currency by multiple unknown individuals. Upon review of the videos, one of the suspects observed vaulting the counter and removing one of the cash registers was in fact the same suspect that was detained and arrested for the Receiving Stolen Property.
The suspect arrested is Fowler, Kenneth, a 19-year-old resident of Lomita, CA, Booking #6626700.
During the course of the investigation, a juvenile was identified as being the second suspect observed removing one of the cash drawers. He was arrested, booked for Robbery, and released to a parent/guardian.
Southwest Area Detectives are still investigating and are asking the public and community to assist in identifying individuals responsible for the violent acts and vandalisms inside of the restaurant.
