WHAT:
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Mission Area will be hosting the 3rd Annual Memorial Bike Ride – “A Ride to Remember, In Honor of All Fallen First Responders,” a 25-mile bike ride through the northwest San Fernando Valley.

WHEN:
Sunday, July 23, 2023
6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

WHERE:
Mission Area Community Police Station
11121 North Sepulveda Boulevard
Mission Hills, CA 91345

WHO:
Captain James R. Townsend, Commanding Officer, Mission Area

WHY:
This event will raise funds for the families of Mission Area’s fallen Officers – Officer Val Martinez and Officer Nicholi Darkus, along with Mission’s Youth Programs.

Officer Val Martinez, while on-duty, was exposed to Covid-19. He passed away due to complications in July 2020. Officer Martinez never got the chance to meet his newborn twin boys.

Officer Darkus became ill with cancer shortly after graduating from the Police Academy and passed away in June 2023. Officer Darkus leaves behind his wife and three children.

This event will also foster wellness and good exercise habits in our community.
