South Los Angeles: On Saturday, July 29, 2023, around 11:00 p.m., officers responded to the 2100 Block of East 99th Place, within the Housing Development. When the officers arrived, they found that numerous people had been shot.
While a group of community members gathered at the location to watch a sporting event, numerous suspects entered the housing development on foot and shot into the group. Four people were struck by the gunfire. The suspects fled on foot, then entered a vehicle that fled the scene and remain outstanding at this time.
One of the victim’s struck by the gunfire was pronounced dead at scene, and three others sustained non–life–threatening gunshot wounds. The three people sustaining non–life– threatening injuries were self-transported to local hospitals where they were treated for their injuries.
The suspects and weapon(s) remain outstanding. The motive is unknown.
