"Gang Related Shooting Claims Life of 14 Year Old Female"
Los Angeles – On Sunday, January 7, 2001 at approximately 11:00 a.m., a gang related shooting occurred between two rival gangs at 97th Street and Main Street. Both groups of suspects were shooting at each other from different sides of the street.
The victim was walking westbound on 97th Street from Main Street with her mother and two year old sister when they were caught between the two gangs as they were firing at each other. The 14 year old female was struck in the upper torso and collapsed at the scene. She was pronounced dead by responding paramedics. The two year old sustained a grazing type wound and is listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
All suspects involved in the shooting fled the location on foot.
