Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision Involving Pedestrian NR23266ll

North Hollywood: The Los Angeles Police Department, Valley Traffic Detectives are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a man in his late 20’s.

On September 1, 2023 around 1:50 a.m., a dark colored sedan was travelling northbound Lankershim Blvd at Arminta Street when it collided with a pedestrian on the roadway. The force of the collision caused the pedestrian to be thrown in a northeast direction across the intersection. The dark colored vehicle continued northbound Lankershim Blvd towards Strathern Street failing to stop, identify themselves, or attempt to render aid to the pedestrian who sustained fatal injuries. The hit and run vehicle is being described as a possible Gray, Nissan with heavy damage to the front end.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at scene. He was a male, black, approximately 28-30 years-old, he has not been identified by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

The public is also reminded that as pedestrians, they should exercise caution when crossing streets, obey traffic lights, cross within marked crosswalks, and obey the rules of the road.

This investigation is on-going at this time. Anyone who was driving in the area of Lankershim Blvd and Arminta Street around 1:50 a.m., and observed this collision is urged to call Valley Traffic Division Detectives with information.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and
created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
