Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Pedestrian NR23719mo

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division detectives are investigating the circumstances of a fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

On October 20, 2023 around 7:55 p.m., the victim, described as a 63-year-old female, was crossing southbound Manchester Avenue at Cimarron Street in an unmarked crosswalk. A
vehicle traveling westbound Manchester Avenue at a high rate of speed collided with the victim. After striking the victim, the suspect’s vehicle continued westbound Manchester Avenue without stopping to render aid or identify themself, in violation of the law. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at scene.

The unoccupied suspect vehicle, described as a 2019 silver Kia Optima, was located in the city of Inglewood and taken into custody.

The victim’s identity is being held pending next-of-kin notification.
