WHY:
Actor John Phillip Law, chairman of NACOP’s Michael the Archangel Award Advisory Committee, will present awards to Mr. Dave Bell, producer of the series, and Deputy Chief David Gascon, Acting Chief of Police for the Los Angeles Police Department.
“LAPD: Life on the Beat,” now in it’s fourth year, stands among all the shows of this genre because of how effectively and accurately it presents the difficulties and stresses faced each day by officers on the streets, without dramatization nor sugar-coating,” said Law, whose father was a Los Angeles County Deputy sheriff. “The program has given LAPD officers the recognition and respect they so rightfully deserve and, at the same time, has been positive for all U.S. law enforcement.”
The series was selected for the honor by a poll of NACOP’s board of directors.
