LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE Wednesday, May 26, 1999 The Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Homicide Unit along with Councilmember Rita Walters will hold a press conference on May 27, 1999 at 12:00 P.M. at 4125 South Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles. Councilmember Walters will announce a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for the shooting death of Alonzo Jiles.
On February 22, 1999, the body of Alonzo Jiles, a male Black, 31 years of age was discovered in an alley rear of 7002 S. Vermont Avenue in South Central Los Angeles near the intersection of Florence and Vermont Avenues, Jiles was deceased as a result of a gunshot wound. The motive for the murder is unknown at this time and no suspects have been identified.
The parents of the victim will be attending the press conference and a photo of the victim will also be available.
The Los Angeles Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects responsible for this crime. Anyone with information should contact South Bureau Homicide Detectives Jeff Nolte and Stan Evans at 213-237-1310.
