Pacoima: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Valley Bureau Homicide detectives are announcing the arrest of suspects responsible for the murder.
On January 8, 2024, around 7:08 p.m., two teens were walking near the 13000 block of Carl Street when they were approached by several suspects in a silver Dodge Charger. After a brief conversation, the front passenger exited the vehicle and began firing at them. The victims attempted to flee when two additional suspects exited the vehicle and started shooting at them as well. One victim fell to the ground, and the front passenger suspect stood over him, firing multiple rounds. The suspects then turned their attention to the other fleeing victim, who successfully escaped after sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg.
The Operations-Valley Bureau Homicide detectives, with the assistance of the Foothill Area Gang Intelligence Team, the Community Safety Partnership Bureau, and the Gang and Narcotics
Division Federal Task Force, conducted an exhaustive follow-up investigation which included obtaining search warrants and effecting arrests from within the City of Los Angeles to beyond the Los Angeles County. The results of the investigation included searching numerous residences; recovering several firearms and other pertinent evidence; arresting multiple suspects including all who fired upon the victims. Lastly, criminal charges were filed for murder and attempted murder for every suspect.
On January 26, 2024, around 11:55 a.m., Subject-1-Gomez and Subject-2- Lopez were arrested near the 9000 block of Nipa Avenue and booked for 187(a) PC- Murder, with no bail.
On January 26, 2024, around 5:10 p.m., Suspect- Montesdeoca, Giovanny, was arrested near the 43500 block of Kirkland Avenue and booked for 187(a) PC- Murder, with no bail (Booking
Number 6749186).
On January 29, 2024, around 7 p.m., Suspect-Espinoza, Jose, was arrested near the 800 block of south Victoria Avenue and booked for 187(a) PC- Murder, with no bail (Booking Number
6750721).
