Pedestrian Killed in Fatal Hit-and-Run NR24045jc/lr

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a man.

On February 2, 2024, around 8:10 p.m., a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision occurred on Washington Place and East Boulevard. A dark-colored SUV was traveling eastbound on Washington Place when it crashed into the victim that was crossing Washington Place in an unmarked crosswalk. The dark-colored SUV continued driving east on Washington Place, stopped momentarily, but then continued driving east on Washington Place without stopping to identify themselves or render aid as required by law.

Paramedics from the Culver City Fire Department responded to the scene and provided immediate medical attention to the victim. The victim succumbed to the injuries at scene.

The victim is described as a man, but the identification is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.

West Traffic Division detectives are urging anyone that may have witnessed the collision to come forward with any information regarding this fatal hit and run.

Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

Pedestrians are reminded to use caution when crossing the street and to always look both ways before proceeding as vehicles may or may not see people crossing the street, especially in hours of darkness.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
