Juvenile Division Investigates Death of Infant

Juvenile Division Detectives, Abused Child Unit, are investigating the death of an infant. On August 1, 1999, at approximately 5:00 a.m., paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 5500 block of Homeside Avenue, Los Angeles. The paramedics transported a three-month-old male Hispanic to Brotman Medical Center where the infant was pronounced dead at 5:23 a.m. The infant was born 13 weeks premature and was in the care of his parents and siblings at the time he was discovered not breathing. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
