Pedestrian Dispute Between Two Vehicles Escalates to Murder

On Sunday, November 28, 1999, at approximately 2:20 a.m., pedestrians returning to their vehicles parked in a lot at the 900 block of S. Figueroa Street became involved in a verbal dispute with individuals driving a Ford Bronco and a Honda Accord. The dispute escalated to the point where a suspect from one of the vehicles armed himself with a club and struck one of the pedestrians in the head, a 19 year old male Hispanic.

An fight ensued involving the two vehicles and friends of the stricken victim. During this altercation, the driver of the Bronco intentionally drove his vehicle into one of the other pedestrians involved before both vehicles fled the location.

The first beating victim, was treated and released at scene. However, the hit-and-run victim was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The first vehicle is described as a dark with light trim 1984-1987 Ford Bronco. This vehicle has a broken right side windshield. The driver of the Bronco, Suspect #1, is described as a male Hispanic, 23/25 years of age, short dark hair, 5’8" tall, 200 pounds, with moustache and goatee. The Bronco passenger, Suspect #2, is described as a male Hispanic, 5’10" tall, 140 pounds.

The second vehicle is described as a white 1987-1990 Honda Accord, four doors with tinted windows. The victims broke the left rear window and it may have traffic damage to the left side of the vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, Suspect #3, is described as a male Hispanic.
