LAPD Valley Traffic Division detectives have released a photograph of the suspect’s actual vehicle involved in the fatal hit-and-run crash.

Sylmar: The Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic detectives (VTD) are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a man in his 40’s.

On May 08, 2024, around 9:00 p.m., a fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred on Foothill Boulevard and Terra Bella Street. A male pedestrian was crossing inside a marked cross-walk on Foothill Boulevard at Terra Bella Street when he was struck by a large silver truck traveling at an unsafe speed northbound Foothill Boulevard. The truck continued northbound on Foothill Boulevard towards Van Nuys Boulevard without stopping to identify self or render aid as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead at scene. The pedestrian was a male White in his 40’s. His name is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

VTD Detectives are urging anyone who was traveling in the area of Foothill Boulevard and Terra Bella Street on May 08, 2024, around 9:00 p.m. to come forward with any information regarding this fatal hit and run.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
