The Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations-South Bureau "JEOPARDY PROGRAM" is hosting its 5th Annual youth only Martial Arts tournament.

LAW ENFORCEMENT YOUTH MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT (L.E.Y.M.A.T.).

The 5th Annual L.E.Y.M.A.T. will host approximately 1,500 youths competing in the largest youth only tournament in the world. In attendance will be Chief Bernard Parks and Staff representing the Los Angeles Police Department

WHEN: Saturday, November 6, 1999

TIME: 10:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M.

WHERE: Los Angeles Sports Arena

WHY: The LAPD’s JEOPARDY YOUTH PROGRAM identifies youths who are at risk, or show an inclination towards involvement in criminal or gang activities. The objective of this program is to provide active intervention and prevention in the life of those juveniles, in order to curb gang recruitment and youth involvement in criminal activity.

The Jeopardy Martial Arts program has become a major success with our youth. The Martial Arts program is designed to improve self-esteem, self-discipline and self-control.
