Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Division patrol officers have arrested an Assault with a Deadly Weapon suspect, following a lengthy pursuit on surface streets and the 405 freeway.
On Friday, May 17, 2024, around 4:45 a.m. Pacific Division patrol officers responded to a radio call of a female in a vehicle behaving erratically on Rose Avenue and 3rd Avenue. During the course of the officer’s investigation, the suspect rammed her vehicle into the officers’ patrol vehicle and fled, leading officers on a pursuit which eventually continued onto the 405 northbound freeway. While on the freeway, the suspect intentionally struck the pursuing officers with her vehicle.
After several attempts by the officers to try to stop the suspect’s vehicle, the suspect drove southbound on the northbound 405 freeway and crashed into several motorists, one of which suffered minor injuries. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries and observation. Five officers also suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.
Two of those officers were transported to a local hospital where they were treated and released.
Investigators are currently determining if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this incident.
