Fatal Hit-And-Run Traffic Collision NR24165cm/dm

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian dead.

On April 16, 2024, around 8:00 p.m., a pedestrian was crossing Mission Road, near 1st Street in an unmarked crosswalk, when a vehicle traveling southbound Mission Road collided with the pedestrian. The driver fled the scene without identifying themselves or rendering aid to the pedestrian, as required by law. The vehicle continued southbound Mission Road and made a westbound turn onto 1st Street and a northbound turn onto Vignes Street. The vehicle was last seen making a westbound turn onto Commercial Street from Vignes Street.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

There is no description of the driver. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a black Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima with black rims.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and

created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
