LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday, December 14, 1999
Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department will hold a press conference to receive the donation of the armored truck used during the 1997 North Hollywood Bank of America robbery/shoot-out to the LAPD Historical Society. The truck was used as a life-saving ambulance to retrieve wounded officers and civilians while under gunfire.
On Tuesday, December 14, 1999, at 11:30 a.m., a press conference will be held at Highland Park Old Police Station (site of the Historical Society Museum) located at 6045 York Boulevard in Los Angeles.
The truck was put into action on February 28, 1997, when its driver and guard promptly responded upon hearing there were wounded officers and civilians pinned by gunfire. Armored Transport of California will donate the truck to the impressive collection the LAPD Historical Society has accumulated over the years to display at the Museum.
It is the ambition of the Historical Society’s members and directors to preserve the history of the City and the Department and to display its collection at the Museum.
Los Angeles Police Department, Commander David Kalish and members of the board of directors from the Historical Society will be on hand to receive the donation and to conduct the press conference.
