About Us
The Office of Operations Film Unit provides oversight and guidance for commercial filming in the City of Los Angeles, provides training to the Department’s Videographer Cadre and approves Motion Picture Television Work Permits.
Unpermitted Filming/Production Inquiries/Permit Help
Reports of unpermitted filming and production inquiries should be directed to FilmLA’s 24-hour hotline (213) 977-8600.
FilmLA personnel will verify a valid filming permit has/has not been issued, verify the stipulations on a film permit and will assist with making the appropriate notification to the Film Unit if necessary.
Productions inquiring about current film permit(s) or future permit(s) should contact FilmLA and speak to their coordinator or FilmLA personnel. If a film production is experiencing issues at a filming location, please call (213) 977-8600 to speak to a member of FilmLA.
If emergency assistance is required, please call 911 or for non-emergency requests, please call 877-ASK-LAPD (877-275-5273).
