"Shooting Death in Rampart Area Squabble"

Los Angeles – On Friday, July 28, 2000, at approximately 9:15 p.m., Rampart patrol officers responded to a radio call of "shots fired" at a residence on the 1300 block of South Valencia Street. Upon their arrival to the location, the officers discovered a 25 year-old male Hispanic who had been shot. Paramedics arrived and transported the victim to U. S. C. Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that the victim and a suspect where drinking at the residence on Valencia Street when they became involved in a physical fight. Others at the location, attempted to stop the fight and separated the two. However, the suspect produced a handgun and shot the victim. The suspect fled the location on foot. The suspect is described only as a male Hispanic, 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 180 pounds and black hair.

The suspect and weapon are outstanding. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
