Hit-and-Run in Koreatown Leaves a Pedestrian Severely Injured NR25071ti

Los Angeles:  The Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision that severely injured a pedestrian.

On December 22, 2024, around 2:35 a.m., a newer model white sedan was traveling northbound on Catalina Street, approaching Wilshire Boulevard, when it struck a pedestrian who was crossing from the west curb. The pedestrian was in the northbound lanes of Catalina Street when the collision occurred. The driver of the white sedan failed to stop, identify themselves, and render aid as required by law, and continued northbound on Catalina Street.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian, a 29-year-old male, to a local hospital in severe condition.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

The public is also reminded that pedestrians must obey all traffic laws and cross the street when it is safe to do so.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members that provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
