Fatal Traffic Collision Leaves one Dead, a Suspect Arrested, and the LAPD Looking for More Information

April 11, 2010

Los Angeles:  The Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing more details that would help in their investigation.

Early this morning at around 3:15 a.m., 27-year-old Jasen Jack, a resident of Atlanta Georgia, was driving southbound on Western Avenue in a 2008 Dodge Caliber when his car ran off of the road way and hit a traffic signal. The impact of the crash caused the signal to fall and hit a pedestrian standing on the northwest corner of Western Avenue and Pico Boulevard. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

Detectives say that the suspect appeared to display symptoms of being under the influence and was subsequently taken into custody. The identity of the victim is being withheld until his family has been notified.
