Why:
Despite the best enforcement efforts by Los Angeles Police Department, some people choose to commit the     crime of hit and run, risking their lives and the lives of people around them.

On March 13, 2008, at approximately 3:20 p.m., sixty-nine-year-old Angel Sanchez, a resident of Los Angeles was crossing the street on Compton Avenue and 47th Street, when he was struck and killed by Dante Lee, driving his 1976 Chevrolet Pick-up southbound on Compton Avenue.  Lee fled the scene on foot without attempting to render aid to the victim or identifying himself.  Lee was taken into custody at his home on March 13, 2008 and was booked for 191.5 PC, Felony Vehicular manslaughter.  He is now awaiting trial.
