Los Angeles: On Saturday, December 20, 2003, at 8:00 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department, West Traffic Division will be conducting a sobriety/driver license checkpoint on Santa Monica Boulevard at Gordon Street.
Every year the Los Angeles Police Department gathers statistical information on traffic related issues, including arrests for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), and Hit and Run traffic collisions. It is believed that a large number of Hit and Run collisions involve unlicensed drivers and/or DUI drivers. By combining a driver license/sobriety checkpoint, West Traffic Division officers will be focusing their efforts on enforcement, as well as educating the public on the dangers of driving impaired.
