Copper Wire Theft Suspect Charged

Los Angeles: On December 4, 2007, Los Angeles Police Department officials announced that charges have been filed on a copper wire theft suspect.

On Sunday, December 2, 2007, patrol officers were dispatched to a radio call of a vandalism suspect in the 2200 block of Alameda Street. When the officers arrived, they saw a man pulling wires from a city street light pole and in possession of a shopping cart filled with about forty pounds of copper wire. The suspect was arrested and booked for grand theft.

The suspect has been identified as Raul Villasenor Rodriguez, a 48 year-old, transient. The District Attorney’s Office has charged Rodriguez with (1) count of Grand Theft and
(2) counts of Vandalism.
