A promotion ceremony of LAPD officers and the announcement of the appointing of the first ever LAPD Explorer Commanders Appointments

WHY:     
The LAPD is promoting 10 Lieutenants and 6 Detectives.
    
This ceremony will include the announcement of the first LAPD Explorer Commanders appointments.  For the first time in the history of the LAPD Explorer Program, the department will appoint a Chief Explorer, six Explorer Commanders and the Executive Advisory Council.  

The LAPD Explorer Program is a long-standing youth program.  Students are taught basic law enforcement skills, physical fitness, problem-solving skills and are expose to curriculum focused on directing young men and women toward a career in law enforcement.
